I just found out that a reader who lives nearby started a blog. I was so excited to read her blog and then it made me think ... I wonder who else is reading my blog? Please leave me a comment just to say hello and who you are (if you want to). I would love to know about you and your blogs (if you have them). Some of my favorite blogs are those that I have found by reading comments left on my blog.
I hope everyone has a fun weekend! Thanks for introducing yourselves! I am looking forward to "meeting" all of you! Cheers!

Bobbi Brown
I met my mom and sister last night for a little shopping and dinner. We ran by Belk's and checked out the new Bobbi Brown spring line. As usual, Bobbi Brown did not disappoint. There are several kits available at Belk's with the new spring and summer colors, but they are exclusive to Belk's. If you have one, check these kits out. My sister bought one that was great with gel eyeliner, blush, lip gloss, and eye shadow.
Her are a few of my old and new Bobbi Brown favorites -
I love using this gel eye liner. It goes on easily with an eye liner brush and it stays on well. I use either espresso or sapphire shimmer.
We all got a new lip crayon. This is a cross between a lipstick and a lip liner. It is a thick pencil that goes on easily and feels like a creamy lipstick. My mom and I choose naked pink and my sister choose warm rose.
I lost my tweezermans so I thought I would try these tweezers from Bobbi made by Rubis. They work as well as (or maybe better than) my old tweezermans. I guess if they show up I will have an extra pair for my travel bag.
I hope everyone has a nice day!

Vaseline Healthy Body Glow Lotion
I recently bought this lotion at Ulta. It was $5 and some change for a 10 ounce bottle. I have tried Jergens Natural Glow and Loreal Sublime Glow but did not like the sunless tanner scent that developed after a few hours. I tried this yesterday morning and it worked very well. I have a touch of color but the scent isn't as strong as the other gradual sunless tanners I have tried. I am going to keep using this every day for a few more days to get more color. All in all, this is cheaper and more effective than the other gradual sunless tanners I have tried.

Steak Tacos with Corn Relish
I made these steak tacos with corn relish for dinner tonight. They were so good! Yesterday I made the corn relish and let it sit overnight. I will definitely be making these again. I got the recipe from Cooking with Paula Deen.

Fun in Leesburg
I hope you all had a nice weekend and a fun St. Patrick's Day! We had a great time in Leesburg. The party was so much fun and it was fun to visit with all of my family. Most of my maternal grandmother's family is from Texas, so we do not get to see them often.
Lansdowne was beautiful. The service was great and they handled the party well. I wish I would have had time to visit the spa, but it was a quick trip. If you are in the area, it is a fun hotel.
Saturday we went to the outlet center in Leesburg. We barely touched the surface of it. They had a Williams Sonoma outlet which was nice. My aunt and grandmother got a microplane. If you don't have one, it is a nice grater/zester. They also had a Pottery Barn outlet which I want to re-visit when we move into a new house. My favorite find was from the Kate Spade outlet. I got this photo album for my purse for $32. Yes, $32. I love the matte gold leather.
And inside - pink and pink polka dots!
I hope everyone has a nice day!

Have a nice weekend!
I hope you all are having a nice week. I am out of town Friday through Sunday for a family birthday party. We are all going to be staying at Lansdowne in Leesburg, VA. It should be a lot of fun. Friday night we have a birthday party at the resort, and then Saturday and Sunday we will just be hanging out with the family.
I have no clue yet what I am going to wear to the party. I have been looking for something for weeks and haven't found anything. As a result, my bag is filled to the brim with clothes. I hope to come up with something between now and tomorrow night. Don't you just love it when you actually have an event to attend and can't find anything to wear?!
I hope everyone has a nice weekend! Take care!

Easter Egg Ideas
While perusing MarthaStewart.com I found some great ideas for Easter Eggs. I am looking forward to the holiday and wanted something to decorate that I could also use next year. This time next year, I will be in the middle of tax season so Easter eggs will be the last thing on my mind. Here are the eggs I am planning to do -
Easter eggs decorated with polka dots and monograms -
Glittered Easter eggs -
I am going to do a mix of polka dot, monogrammed, and glittered Easter eggs. Martha Stewart has great glitters at Michael's. If you keep your eyes peeled, they are always publishing coupons for 40 and 50% off. I think I am going to stick with spring colors like pink and green. I will let you all know how this goes! Enjoy your day!

Mushroom and Asparagus Risotto

This is a delicious risotto from Martha Stewart. I made this Saturday for dinner.
Ingredients:
1 pound assorted mushrooms, such as oyster and cremini, cleaned
1 ounce dried porcini mushrooms
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for serving
1 large clove garlic, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cups Arborio rice
1 cup dry white wine
Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
2. Cut 2 inches from the top of asparagus; set aside. Cut remaining portion of the asparagus crosswise into 1/4-inch pieces. Bring a small saucepan of salted water to a boil; prepare an ice-water bath. Place asparagus tips in boiling water and cook until tender-crisp, about 2 minutes; drain and immediately transfer to ice-water bath to cool. Drain and set aside. Repeat process with 1/4-inch asparagus pieces.
3. Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add garlic and onion, and cook, stirring occasionally, until translucent, about 2 minutes.
4. Add rice and stir to coat. Add wine and increase heat to medium-high; season with 2 teaspoons salt. Let cook, stirring, until liquid is almost evaporated, about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup of the warm mushroom stock and cook, stirring constantly, until liquid is almost evaporated, about 2 minutes. Repeat this process 2 more times.
5. Add reserved coarsely chopped mushrooms and season with 1 teaspoon pepper. Continue adding mushroom stock, 1/2 cup at a time, and cook, stirring, until liquid has almost evaporated, about every 2 minutes, until rice is al dente, 20 to 30 minutes total.
6. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium-high heat. Add remaining two-thirds of the mushrooms and cook, stirring, until golden brown, about 2 minutes; season with salt and pepper. Add asparagus tips and cook until lightly browned, about 1 minute more. Remove from heat and set aside.
7. Add 1/4-inch pieces of asparagus to risotto and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Remove risotto from heat and add remaining 1/4 cup olive oil to risotto, along with butter and cheese. Stir until butter has melted and mixture is well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
8. Divide risotto evenly among 4 serving plates. Top with sauteed mushrooms and asparagus tips. Drizzle with olive and serve immediately.

Another busy weekend!
Thomas and I had another busy weekend. Friday night I went out with my college friends J and L to Panera and then we went to see The Other Boleyn Girl. Talk about a downer! It was such a depressing movie and it was crazy to think how far this family would go for social standing. I hear the book is much better than the movie.
Saturday my husband and I cleaned and then had three other couples over for dinner. I made pork tenderloin with a hoisin glaze, salad, and mushroom and asparagus risotto. The risotto was so good and I will definitely be making it again. We had a lot of fun visiting with our friends and stayed up way too late. Plus with the time change, it made it even harder to get up today.
This morning we met our friends K and A at Toast for brunch. Toast Cafe is becoming a weekly ritual for us. I had mixed berry and cream cheese crepes which were to die for. This place is perfect for weekend brunch. Today we lounged around the house and watched shows we were behind on and American Gangster.
Have a nice week!

The Ultimate Blog Party!
If this is your first visit, welcome to my blog! I am a twenty something recently married graduate student living in Charlotte, NC. I started this blog as an outlet for all the girlie things I love. I enjoyed reading other blogs and decided to try it myself. Check out the blogs I read in the sidebar, they are wonderful.
My husband Thomas and I got married in May of last year. I love being married to him and can't believe it has been almost a year. I am currently pursuing my masters in accounting. I can't wait to finish school, pass the CPA exam, and start working.
I love all things classic and preppy. My favorite color is pink and I love to shop. I make the choice to be happy and I enjoy each day. I love stationary, tableware, entertaining, cooking, reading, and watching movies. I usually blog about things that are happening in my life - recipes I tried, movies I saw, things I bought, etc. It has been fun to share in the lives of so many friends I haven't met in person.
Thanks for visiting! Please leave me a comment if you have a blog I would like!

Real Housewives of New York City?
Did anyone watch the Real Housewives of NYC on Bravo? I always enjoyed watching the Real Housewives of Orange County. Even though the women live a life very different than mine, it was fun to watch the show. I am not sure if I will be watching the women in New York City. Did anyone watch this? What are your thoughts?

Way to go Old Navy!
Old Navy has been a place that I have shopped at on and off over the years. Some seasons I like their stuff, other seasons I am disappointed. This summer things are looking up for them. I went in the other day to try and use a gift certificate and I picked up two cute dresses and a skirt. I live in skirts and dresses during the summer, so these will be great.
I got this patterned skirt. I am planning to wear it with a white cotton shirt from the Gap I bought several years ago. I bought a bigger size so it is a little bit longer. In the picture it looks really short. Below is an up close picture of the pattern.
I also got two shift dresses, one is black and the other is white. The black dress has no decoration other than two buttons on one shoulder and the white dress has embroidery on it. I am thinking about wearing these with flip flops or wedges.

My Husband
My husband's name is Thomas. He said it was okay if I referred to him by his first name, so from here on out that is what I am going to call him! Hubby seemed really weird to me and he thought it was weird too.

Target.com Order
I finally ordered these shoes I posted about several months ago. They are cute and should be fun for summer.
I also ordered this cardigan, which is really cute in person. It is a green and white pattern that almost looks like a chain length fence. It will be nice for this not quite winter but not quite spring time. These run a little bigger than normal, so I wore a size smaller in the cardigan.

Bruschetta Chicken Skillet
Ingredients:
1/4 cup Sun Dried Tomato Dressing
4 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans pasta style or Italian style tomatoes, undrained
1/2 cup water
2 cups instant brown rice, uncooked
1 cup mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons chopped, fresh basil
Heat dressing in a large skillet on medium heat. Add chicken and garlic; cover. Cook 10 minutes or until chicken is cooked through, stirring occasionally and turning chicken after 5 minutes. Remove chicken from the skillet; cover and keep warm.
Add canned tomatoes and water to skillet. Stir in rice; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Meanwhile, combine cheese and basil.
Return chicken to skillet; sprinkle with cheese mixture. Cover. Cook 5 minutes or until chicken is heated through and cheese is melted. Yields 4 servings.
I cut this recipe in half and added chopped onion in step one with the chicken and garlic. It turned out great and was something different.
Enjoy your day!

Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a nice weekend! My husband I had fun, but I am exhausted! Friday night we met our friends K and B at our favorite sushi spot, Nikko. They have the best sushi in Charlotte hands down. Nikko's new location is very open and spacious. It has a cool modern feel to it. Our sushi was incredible as always. K and B are new friends and we have so much fun hanging out. K loves girlie things as much as I do, so she and I can never get enough time if for all the things we "need" to talk about.
Saturday we went to a new restaurant called Encore with our friends B, S, and S. It was for a surprise birthday party for S and also S's grandmother. We had a lot of fun and they were both surprised which was a feat in and of itself. S did a great job getting everything organized and we had a great time.
Today we had brunch with K and A and K's son D at a place called Toast Cafe. They have the best brunch. It is a little house that has been remodeled into a restaurant. We were able to sit outside because the weather was beautiful. Tonight we hung out with our friends C and C. They rented the movie Michael Clayton. I was working on a paper and my husband fell asleep twice, so I don't have much of a review to give.
I hope you all have a nice week!

Bridesmaids Gifts
Reader Meredith asked me about bridesmaids gifts for her upcoming wedding. Meredith will be getting married on August 2! Congratulations Meredith and Michael!
When I got married, I gave each of my bridesmaids different gifts. My girls all have different taste, so that worked well for me. Here is a list of gifts that I think would be cute. I will add more gifts as I come across them. I like the stationary from this post and think it would make a cute bridesmaids gift.
I love this brag book from Maude Asbury. I love Maude Asbury photo albums. The quality is great and you can add additional pages to hold more pictures.
I don't think you can ever go wrong with a class LL Bean tote. Mine is monogrammed with my initials.
Laura Mercier body products are such an indulgence. I love to use her products. The body creme is so luxurious. Her products are so nice to use, but definitely a splurge. Her collection comes in several scents - au lait, almond coconut, creme brulee, chocolate truffle, french vanilla, tarte au citron, mint leaf, and clementine.
I love this monogrammed soap from Swoozies. It is $11 for one bar, and $20 for 3. They are having a sale March 6-13 where the entire store will be 20% off.
I think these picture frames from Pottery Barn are so cute. It is hard to tell in the picture, but the colored mat is actually grosgrain ribbon. They come in blue, green, orange, red, and yellow. Posted by Lauren @ Adventures of a Southern Newlywed at 8:47 PM 9 comments
